Work Smarter, Not Harder, On Your Social Media

“Ugh! Social Media is so time consuming!”

“It’s so overwhelming! I just don’t have time to do it.”

“I don’t even know what to post!”

I hear these comments all the time from agents, frustrated with social media. Not knowing where to post, when to post, what to post, etc. It seems for many, just the THOUGHT of stepping up their social media game paralyzes them.

Here’s the biggest truth bomb I can drop on you:

Not having a plan is a plan to fail!

Think about it…we plan and schedule everything…our hour, our day, our LIVES. If you are going on vacation, you plan your trip. You think it out. You pretty much know what you want to do and what you want to see. You invest the time to maximize your time there. Social media is no different. 

To get the most out of social media, you need to implement a strategy. A system in place so you know what you are posting, where you are posting and when you are posting.

I know…it still seems overwhelming. I get it. Here are a few tips to get you started on the right social media path:

Pick ONE platform to start on. Just the amount of platforms are overwhelming! Pick one and start with that. Use it consistently and get to know it for a couple of months before adding another.

Plan out your week. I have a specific day and time, every week, that I sit and plan out my social media posts. Schedule Your Posts. After you’ve planned out your week, schedule them! Facebook Business Pages come with a fantastic free scheduler, so you can schedule everything right from your Page. There are many free schedulers to choose from for scheduling your Instagram. Later, Buffer & Planoly are just a few of the best. Plus, you can schedule 30 posts on their free plan! *TIP* Do NOT schedule the same post to two different platforms! Each platform is unique and should be treated that way. 

Remember Your Audience. It’s all about your audience…Choose high value content! Keep them entertained and engaged so they keep coming back for more! 

Work Smarter, Not Harder. It’s all about creating and dedicating yourself to a system that works! It may take a bit of effort in the beginning, but once you are consistent in your planning and scheduling, you will start to see your hard work pay off!
